The Living Tradition of the Gujarati Doha

The doha — a rhyming couplet — is one of the oldest living forms in Gujarati and the wider Indian tradition. In just two lines it can hold a lifetime of wisdom. Meghani collected thousands of them from the bards of Saurashtra. Today they survive in song, in proverb, and in the everyday speech of Gujarat.
